What is Sani-Powder?
Sani-Powder is the industry’s first 99% bioactive water soluble granular HOCl (Hypochlorous Acid) hard surface sanitizer and disinfectant. Sani-Powder is delivered in a dry form and added conveniently in prepackaged amounts for easy adding into various containers sizes with water. Sani-Powder is EPA Registration “N” listing approved. It has been developed to kill viruses bacteria, mold, fungi, and other harmful pathogens like various liquid counterparts for HOCl produced from a very expensive generator, but with a much more stable, stronger solution. By adding Sani-Powder to water, the user can create the strongest form of HOCl on the market today.
Sani-Powder is designed, packaged, and registered in such a way to help the individual using the Sani-Powder product eliminate the pathogen they are most concerned about in the most efficient, and cost-effective method possible. The person using Sani-Powder can mix a very strong solution to kill the most harmful pathogens found in a Hospital setting or mix a very mild solution to use in a residential setting. With this very new system we all can make sure we eliminate the pathogens we desire in the safest most efficient way possible.
How long does Sani-Powder last once it is applied?
Based on concentration, Sani-Powder will rapidly kill contaminants on any surface within minutes without leaving dangerous or hazardous residue behind. As surfaces are exposed to additional contaminants (rate of contamination varies depending on the specific environment), Sani-Powder does not leave harmful residues behind to provide residual kill over a long period of time. It is designed to kill what exists on the surface when applied and leave a clean, pathogen free, safe surface for human and food contact. Products designed for residual kill or for barrier coating should be used with caution to ensure people or food touching surfaces will not become contaminated with residual chemistry that could seriously harm people, pets, or environment.
How often is it recommended to spray Sani-Powder?
Depending on your environment, you can apply Sani-Powder for sanitization/disinfection as much as needed. Because Sani-Powder is efficiently applied and both eco and human safe, for hotspot areas that involve many human touch points in a given day (school rooms, conference rooms, cafeterias, common rooms, transportation vessels and facilities, etc.), we recommend multiple treatments per day as needed.
Is it safe for an employee to spray Sani-Powder solutions and accidentally make contact with the mist?
Sani-Powder with HOCl has always been safe to spray in working environments, agriculture, and husbandry applications such as those around people, animals, and food. It has been safe for the environment, as well asthe applicator to use a variety of application equipment such as atomizers, sprayers, and foggers. Sani-Powder is safe to spray and apply in the aqueous form without personal protective equipment (PPE) when used in recommended concentrations.
Will Sani-Powder cause skin and eye irritation?
At recommended strengths and according to OSHA and GHS testing, Sani-Powder is not harmful to eyes or skin. It is always important to use products as directed. Sani-Powder can cause minor skin an eye irritation to people with certain sensitivities.
What will happen if I accidentally spray Sani-Powder in my eyes?
No adverse effects are expected in humans or pets if Sani-Powder is accidentally sprayed in eyes from a spraying operation. If irritation occurs, rinse the eyes with water for several minutes. The product should never be intentionally sprayed on skin or eyes.
What if someone has an allergic reaction to chlorines?
Most known chlorine reactions are from sodium hypochlorite which is the chemical compound found in bleach. HOCl does not contain sodium hypochlorite. HOCl is found in the blood stream which is produced by white blood cells. It is not common to have allergic reactions from HOCl, but if any reaction develops, it is best to wash any exposed skin with clean tap water.
Will Sani-Powder work with sprayers?
Yes, Sani-Powder will work with sprayers or misters. Sani-Powder can be sprayed, misted, or fogged via a host of commercially available spraying, misting, diffusing, or fogging devices.
What foggers does Sani-Powder work with?
All foggers tested have been adequate to deliver Sani-Powder in a disinfection capacity. The level of atomizing, spraying, or misting varies with different units and needs to be adjusted by the operator to ensure the surface is treated appropriately without over-soaking surfaces.
Do you have to wipe off Sani-Powder after applying?
Sani-Powder does not leave a residual. It is not corrosive or destructive to most hard surfaces at recommended concentrations and is safe to apply without subsequent wiping effort. However, if users prefer to wipe off Sani-Powder after application, be sure to let it sit for recommended 4-10 minutes (based on concentration and bacterial or virus kill claims) before wiping to ensure a complete kill of the contaminants on the surface. It is also important to know the surfaces you are treating. It is a common practice to treat a small area of any surface to first verify there will not be an adverse reaction to the treatment.
What is the difference between a cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting?
- Cleaning removes dust, debris, and dirt from a surface by scrubbing, washing, and rinsing.
- Sanitizing reduces the bacteria identified on the product’s label on surfaces and in laundry.
- Disinfecting destroys or inactivates both the bacteria and viruses identified on the product’s label (like influenza and rhinovirus) on hard, nonporous surfaces.
It is important to read each label to truly understand the product claims as recognized by the EPA.
Why is it important to have an N-Listed product to safely disinfect?
The N-List became important to most consumers and medical facilities after the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020. The CDC recognized several active ingredients, products, and manufactures that produced a Sanitizing and Disinfecting product that passed specific requirements. It is also important to understand the being on the N-List did not make the product a cure all to any disinfecting need. Sani-Powder in now on the “N” list.
How do I determine what ppm or strength of solution I need for my application?
Every product that is registered with the EPA and tested against specific pathogens will have a specific kill claim. This kill claim will tell you the strength of product you need to kill a specific pathogen and how long the solution needs to sit wet on the pathogen to complete kill it.
As an example, Sani-Powder at 600 ppm when mixed with tap water is strong enough to kill a variety of bacteria tested at 10 minutes. When the Sani-Powder is mixed with tap water to 2400 ppm it can kill the harshest Viruses in 4 minutes. Sani-Powder can be used to sanitize food surfaces in any kitchen residential, and commercial without a rinse at 100 ppm. So, to decide what strength of solution you need is based upon what you are trying to kill and the time you want to kill it in. The stronger the solution the more you can kill in a shorter time, but with a few more precautions. The weaker the solution the longer you will need the product to sit on the pathogen to eliminate it but with much less precautions. To help illustrate we have provided a mix chart as shown on the Sani-Powder label.
Does Sani-Powder give off-gas?
Sani-Powder, after combined with water will degrade in strength over time and should be used within 30 days from the date of mixing to ensure the highest performance. When applied properly, users will likely notice a slight “clean” smell during application.
Does Sani-Powder harm any equipment, chairs, or other fabrics?
It is recommended to test fabrics to determine the risk of level of bleaching. Sani-Powder is intended for hard surface treatment. Soft surfaces carry no official sanitization or disinfection claims. It is important to avoid leaving any surface saturated for an extended period of time beyond 10-mutes as stated on the label. It is important to know that even water will hurt a surface if left for a long time on surfaces.
Will Sani-Powder leave an odor after applying to a surface?
Sani-Powder is an oxidizer that uses FAC (Free Available Chlorine) to eliminate surface pathogens and undesirable bacteria, and viruses. When Sani-Powder is sprayed on surfaces, it will temporarily leave a slight smell of chlorine on the surface and in the air until the surface is completely dry, at which point the smell will dissipate and leave a fresh smell.

Sani-Powder can also be fogged or misted with people present for continuous disinfection. No carcinogen forming THM or HAA compounds are created as a byproduct of Sani-Powder disinfection.
How much area square footage will 1 gallon of Sani-Powder cover in a spray application?
Generally speaking, 1-gallon of Sani-Powder in solution will provide thorough coverage for approximately 4,000 square feet depending on the variation of volume sprayed.
How long does Sani-Powder need to sanitize surfaces?
Sani-Powder reacts quickly against microbes and provides complete kill within a few minutes of contact time. For a more comprehensive list of pathogens and kill times it is important to read EPA labels and ask manufacturers about any kill claims and associated dwell times as these variables are different from product to product.
What if Sani-Powder gets on my food?
Sani-Powder is certified as a spray-on, leave-on food surface cleaner, and is approved for use as a primary disinfectant in purification of drinking water. Washing produce with the appropriate strength of HOCl extends the shelf life of the produce you have at home. As with sizes any as with any FDA certified product, it is important to follow the use instructions for strength and application.
What is the shelf life of Sani-Powder?
Sani-Powder has a 2-year shelf life from the manufactured date in the dry granular form. Once in solution, Sani-Powder should be used within a 30-day period to ensure efficacy. t size, but standard products can normally be shipped within 3-5 business days.
